What you can expect during your 8 weeks


1. By taking the challenge you will be welcomed by our Client Experience Manager, who will be with you every step of the way.


2. Your challenge will start with your first DEXA Scan, which will give you a full breakdown of your body composition including muscle mass, bone density and body fat. The end of your 8 Week Better You Challenge will comprise of your final scan, which is included as part of the challenge.


3. You are unique, so there will be no templates. You will be matched with your very own university-qualified personal trainer. The challenge includes 8 one-to-one personal training sessions completely tailored to your needs.


4. To guarantee you the best results, your trainer will create a fully personalised plan for you to follow over the 8 weeks, based on our 4 pillars of performance – mindset, movement, nutrition and recovery.

DEXA Scan 3

“I have never been someone that likes exercising. Plain and simple. I would honestly rather not eat for 3 months (once did that in the form of a Chinese herb diet) or try a fad diet (did many of those) than do some exercise.

So you can understand when the opportunity was presented to take on the 8 Week Challenge I really had my reservations (read: is there any way out of this? Maybe I will book a one-way ticket to Siberia). Arriving at the gym for the first time was scary but I was met by Anthony, who was so smiley and enthusiastic my anxiety melted away and we got down to work.

Anthony assessed how I moved and really focused on my technique by just doing small exercise and functional movements. This was very different from other PT’s I had in the past that would count backwards from 20 very loud and keep telling me to PUUSSSHHH IIITTTT!!!!!!!

I walked away from Anthony feeling upbeat and really liked his training style and most of all his attentiveness and knowledge of the body and its movements. Don’t worry the pain came later – what seemed like such small and enjoyable movements at the time made a very large impact. I had to psych myself to get up from my chair at work, don’t even ask me about the stairs to get to our third storey apartment, I seriously considered sleeping in the foyer.

My energy levels have also increased significantly. I don’t have an afternoon slump which means there is no need for that quick hit/chocolate pick me up. Our food choices have improved significantly, I would say 80% of our shopping is fresh fruit and vegetables and takeaway is now not really even an option. Don’t get me wrong – we still enjoy eating out, but this is now a treat and what we eat is definitely more considered. The last thing you want to do is schvitz up a storm in the morning to have it all go to waste in the evening. A big change for me personally, has been a shift in my mentality. If before, self-doubt was the default rhetoric in my head, now, I truly believe that I can do what I set out to do and will try and push through the pain. Of course, this mentality spills over into every aspect of my life, not just training and that is a change worth getting up at 5:00am in the morning for. Physically, I am stronger, I am fitter and have lost a total of 4kg of pure fat and gained 2.4kg of lean mass (muscle) and my body composition has changed 7% in the right direction. I really cannot wait to continue on this trajectory with the team at Better Being. My only wish is that I had found them sooner!”

Can I do the challenge if I’m injured or have a medical condition?

Most definitely. We specialise in injury management, however we cannot diagnose any injuries or illnesses. We will work with your medical professional in order to make your training safe but also effective in achieving your goals.

What is a DEXA Scan?

There is nothing more demotivating when you are training hard and eating well and the scale is not showing you the numbers you want to see. A DEXA Scan is the most accurate way to measure exactly how much bone, fat and muscle you have. It emits a low dose X-Ray, less than what you would experience on a flight from Sydney to Melbourne. It takes 15 minutes and you can pop in during your lunch break.

Do I need to take before and after photos? Will my results be made public?

We don’t believe in a one-size fits all approach. Our trainers are skilled in coaching you to make the best choices when it comes to eating well. We work with you to eat on your terms and have a positive relationship with food. If you want a detailed meal plan we can put you in touch with one of our amazing dietitians

That’s up to you. It completely depends on what you want out of the challenge. Some of our best results have been when people have given up or reduced their alcohol intake. However your trainer will never force you to do anything you don’t feel 100% comfortable in doing.

We have a fully private training studio located in the heart of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane CBD. You might already be a member of another gym and that is completely fine too. Your trainer will make recommendations on what you should be doing outside of your PT sessions in order to maximise your results.

I’m doing a lot of travelling is it worth me doing the challenge?

Unfortunately life doesn’t stop and you must continue to travel for work, spend time with the family and attend social gatherings. That’s ok, you have completely flexibility as to when you use your PT sessions and if this is going to be a sustainable change you will need to learn how to navigate these challenges.
